  4. ridingrulez answered: alot of the big jumpers use these (can’t remember the name) to protect their horses’ chins from their knees when they’re clearing the jump :)

  29. bornforhorseriding answered: wow…it’s the first time i see something like that…o.O i also want to know what it is!!
  30. mckennadeputy answered: I think it’s to keep them from biting at the martingale. Some horses do it as a habit but they can get badly hurt or panic if they get stuck
  31. astheystrolledalong answered: Might be to keep the horse from moving the bit around in his mouth. i know some horses can manage to get it under their tongues.
  32. hashtag-youreit answered: It’s not a flash and it’s not used to get a horse round. It looks like a blanket bib so my guess is to protect chin from knocking?
  33. graysonsgotswag answered: i don’t know for sure, but in the pictures it looks like the riders don’t have stops for the martingales so maybe its to keep it from sliding
  34. painted-gold reblogged this from bitchesinbreeches and added:
This is called a flash. It keeps the horses mouth closed
  35. poniesandpearls answered: I would assume something to help them keep their jaw closed to prevent evading the bit… But idk!
  36. tallandskinnygirlslikefashion answered: I think its just for looks, I don’t think it has an actual use. But I may be mistaken
  37. myofficeglows answered: Good god I can’t find anything online about this!! It’s killing me!! haha
  38. talkdontchangeathing answered: the only thing i can think of is a spit guard to keep the foam from splashing on their chest/front legs. but i don’t really know lol
  39. aileybayy answered: I have no idea, but please post if you get the answer, because now I’m curious too! :]
  40. rightlead answered: I dont know the only think i can think of is it is to keep the horses mouth closed instead of opining and closing when chewing on the bit.
  41. k-elseybaby answered: the bit?
  42. hxcspazz answered: It’s called a running martingale and basically gives the rider some leverage, especially with horses who toss/raise their heads.
  43. eventingqueen answered: That is to help get the horse round (from my experience…. I think) :)
  44. liina-ok answered: wow I have never even seen one of those lol
